Privacy

Privacy by design.

What is kept depends on the product.

Web Scanner SDK & OCR API

Document images and extracted identity fields are not stored. Images exist only while the request is processed; the result goes back to your application.

Limited usage metadata — such as document type, nationality and processing time — is kept for billing and service statistics.

Guest Registration

Guest documents and registration data are stored for the property, because registration requires it. The hotel stays in control of its guest data and can delete it; Misfora processes it on the hotel's behalf.

Document images are kept in private storage and opened only through short-lived links.

Questions

What is Misfora?+
Misfora captures passports and ID cards and turns them into structured data. It is available as a Web Scanner SDK for web applications, an OCR API for backends, and a ready-made guest-registration product for hospitality.
What is the difference between the Web Scanner SDK and the OCR API?+
The SDK runs the camera in your user's browser: it guides them, checks image quality, captures automatically and then sends the image to Misfora OCR. The OCR API is for images you already have — you send a photo from your backend and get the same structured result. More on choosing.
Which documents are supported?+
Passports (ICAO TD3) and ID cards with a three-line MRZ (ICAO TD1). See Supported Documents.
Do you store document images?+
Not in the SDK and OCR API: images and extracted fields are not stored, only limited usage metadata. The hospitality product stores guest documents for the property as part of registration, under the hotel's control — see Privacy.
Is Misfora only for hotels?+
No. Hospitality is our first market, but the SDK and OCR API work for any software that needs data from passports and ID cards — travel, car rental, onboarding forms and more.
How do I get access?+
Access to the SDK and API is set up manually — request access and we'll get back to you. To see the capture engine right away, try the free scanner. Hotels can request access on the Hospitality page.
Does Misfora verify identity?+
No. Misfora captures documents and extracts and validates their data. Liveness checks, face matching and KYC decisions require other systems.
